HISTORY

In 1993, the present owner discovered three derelict bank-owned industrial buildings constructed in the 1940s to supply the needs of California's postwar population boom.

Even in their rundown condition, these warehouses had plenty of northern light streaming into large volumes of space - an idea was born! The bright and adaptable buildings would be perfect for creative endeavors. In 2003, the city supported the owner's plan for valuable creative space that doubled as living space for artists and creative entrepreneurs.

The three buildings were reconfigured to meet life safety requirements, on-site parking, and shared outdoor space. Twelve studios of varying sizes and configurations have fifteen-foot ceilings, steel casement windows, concrete floors, and open floor plans. These features add up to a winning formula for a creative work environment that makes for a pleasant living space.
